Don’t expect America to heal anytime soon

I’d like to congratulate the socialists for their hard-fought campaign to change the hearts of people living in America. It took 60 years, but you persevered and never gave up in your quest to reshape the United States away from its founding principles.

I’ll also offer congratulations to my Christian brothers and sisters who responded to the promptings of the Holy Spirit to “vote their consciences” to bring an end to the partisan rancor that had successfully kept the march to socialism at bay since the first shots of the cultural revolution were fired back in the 1960s.

I freely admit that I don’t pray nearly as much as I should. So, I will defer to your discernment in advancing the cause of Christ at the ballot box.

Since it is free-thinking people of faith, like me, who have historically been among the first wave of citizens ushered onto buses or trains and shuttled off to re-education camps, I want to take advantage of my remaining months of physical liberty and freedom to express an opinion.

Knowing how quickly America descended into socialism in 2019 as once-cherished freedoms were obliterated in the name of “safety,” I can only imagine how quickly the last vestiges of free choice will be swept away in the New World Order when it arrives later this month.

I’m not surprised by the demise of what was once the greatest nation on earth. The United States has often stood in the way of “progressive” movements to insist that people have the freedom to practice their faith, express their opinions, gather with others, purchase specific products, and educate their children as well as the freedom to question and defend themselves against tyrannical governments.

A time like this was predicted centuries ago by multiple writers across several continents. Watching Biblical prophecy come true has been like watching a slow-motion train wreck resulting from the collision of two equally-powerful worldviews.

In 2 Timothy 3:1-8, Apostle Paul wrote:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.

I know many people are gleeful about the results of the 2020 election. They are breathing a sign of relief now that Bad Orange Man and his enablers have been defeated. It’s as though he alone held the keys to their happiness and was physically restraining their joy. With him out of the picture, people are confident that the division that plagued the United States will evaporate as God heals our land.

Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening. While my newly-woke Christian friends believe that God has heard their cries and will heal their land, the Bible says something else must also accompany their prayers in order for God to follow through on his promise to do just that.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

Many people interpret that to simply read, “If my people pray, I will heal their land.” However, they forget the whole part about humbling themselves, actually seeking God and turning from their wicked ways. People in America are not yet willing to confront their many sins.

A political system that:

  • Shuts down churches;
  • Restricts home gatherings;
  • Allows, encourages and pays for murder in the womb;
  • Eliminates public prayer;
  • Ridicules God’s standards for sex and marriage;
  • Mocks God’s design in creating humans as either male or female;
  • Disincentivizes work;
  • Seeks equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity;
  • Puts faith in government to provide, rather than God;
  • Restricts speech only to words that are comfortable to hear;
  • Consolidates power around a few elite politicians and corporate executives;
  • And neglects the idea of personal involvement in helping others;

…has no hope of gaining God’s favor in healing their land.

I have said for months that, with this election, God laid out a crystal-clear choice for Americans to select between his way of doing things and the world’s way. Ignoring the human qualities of the candidates, the choices between their worldviews could not have been more contrasting or distinctive.

Now that the majority of people have spoken and put their faith, hope and trust into the ever-changing man-made political system, God will not heal America.

Those of us who embrace a traditional view of God will not be shielded from the pain headed in America’s direction. We are in for some rough sledding as things get worse – much worse – until God mercifully raptures his people in the last days.

This trajectory has been gradual for decades, but accelerated after Sept. 11, 2000, when America’s political leaders were quick to cite the Bible in official responses to the terrorist attacks.

Leaders from both political parties cited Isaiah 9:10, which states, “The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.”

The words were intended to claim that nothing could stop America or America’s resolve. However, the passage was taken out of context in that nobody ever mentioned the preceding seven words, “…who say with pride and arrogance of heart….”

America has been increasingly arrogant for years, and its citizens will start paying the price soon.

Now may be the time for the American church to go underground before it becomes truly illegal to worship the God of the Bible and his son, Jesus Christ.

It’s time for Christians to develop an independent economy, rather than turning over their money to corporations that invest profits into further mocking God’s word or hindering his mission.

It’s time to develop an alternative Christian communications network where we can support and encourage one another, as commanded, rather than wonder if we will cross a constantly shifting line and be banned or cancelled by posting an “unapproved” message.

Jesus himself warned, “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

When was Jesus quoted as saying that? In Revelation 3:19-20, the last book of the Bible that describes the final days of Earth.

We were warned. We ignored the message. Now all of us get to pay the price.
