Perhaps common sense will prevail in the lawsuit brought by three Connecticut teenage girls who have been forced to compete against male athletes who “identify” as females.
Two teen boys who identify as girls have been sweeping Connecticut high school girls’ track and field competitions in recent years.
The decision to allow physical males to compete against females because the boys’ brains think they are female works to render the girls as spectators in their own sport. The decision was made by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and the boards of education in Bloomfield, Cromwell, Glastonbury, Canton and Danbury
This week, Attorney General William Barr signed what is known as a statement of interest Tuesday, arguing against the policy, according to ESPN.
“Under CIAC’s interpretation of Title IX, however, schools may not account for the real physiological differences between men and women. Instead, schools must have certain biological males — namely, those who publicly identify as female — compete against biological females,” Barr and the other department officials write.
“In so doing, CIAC deprives those women of the single-sex athletic competitions that are one of the marquee accomplishments of Title IX,” they added.
Of course, the American Civil Liberties Union represents the two transgender girls who run track in Connecticut.
