Zuby, an independent rapper, author, life and fitness coach, public speaker, and host of the Real Talk With Zuby podcast, tweeted a series of truths on July 5 that went viral.

Titled “20 Things I’ve Learned (or had Confirmed) About Humanity During the Pandemic,” Zuby’s insight is profound for his ability to zero in on human nature, especially when people are under pressure.

Here are my favorites:

  • Most people would rather be in the majority than be right.
  • At least 20% of the population has strong authoritarian tendencies which will emerge under the right conditions.
  • Propaganda is just as effective in the modern day as it was 100 years ago. Access to limitless information has not made the average person any wiser.
  • Anything and everything can and will be politicized by the media, government, and those who trust them.
  • Once they have made up their mind, most people would rather to commit to being wrong, than admit they were wrong.
  • ‘The Science’ has evolved into a secular pseudo-religion for millions of people in the West. This religion has little to do with science itself.
  • If you make people comfortable enough, they will not revolt. You can keep millions docile as you strip their rights, by giving them money, food, and entertainment.
  • It’s easier to fool a person than to convince them that they have been fooled.

I strongly encourage people to check out the entire list of Zuby’s 20 insights. I couldn’t share them all without violating the FAIR Act, but all his observations are spot-on in their accuracy.

Authoritarian tendencies

When I was growing up and studying World War II, I distinctly remember my mother’s amazement about how many German people got so wrapped up in Hitler’s rhetoric.

She was almost 8 years old when Pearl Harbor was attacked and 11 when the war ended.

She thought it was unfathomable that people would turn in others just for being Jewish — and that people would willingly board trains and walk into shower houses at concentration camps belching smoke of cremated victims.

Then COVID arrived.

At that time, she was willingly to accept whatever the television told her about the illness because it fit well with her fears and prejudices.

She was fully supportive of restricting ANY alternative news or opinions about the illness or the reaction — and believed every word coming from government, even when officials contradicted earlier narratives.

In her eyes, it was okay for people to be arrested and dragged away for not wearing masks or practicing social distancing over an illness with a 99.6% full recovery rate.

My mother was not alone. There were millions of people shaming others for not wearing paper or cloth face coverings to ward off the microscopic particles.

Fear forces people to do things they would never imagine doing under normal conditions.

That’s why it is easy for me to see how people will turn in neighbors and even family members when Christianity becomes illegal in America. There is a short list of friends and relatives who I already know would turn me over to the authorities. They may feel guilty for doing so, but they will not regret it if it means complying with “the rules.”

Zuby was right in suggesting that one in five people have authoritarian tendencies. In fact, it is probably even higher than that.

People who claim they would never turn in a child or family member for simply being a Christian will change their tune when it is announced they, too, will be arrested and even executed for hiding people of faith.

It’s human nature.
