Town rewards long-time pizza deliveryman with a new car

When you’re working in the sweet spot of doing what you were designed to do, work isn’t work at all. It’s a joy and something you’d do even if you weren’t paid.
That’s why I like this story about Robert Peters, a man from Tipton, Ind., who has been delivering pizzas for Pizza Hut for 31 years.
Whenever folks in Tipton saw Robert and his 28-year-old Oldsmobile heading their way, they knew they were in for service with a smile, an article at the Good News Network noted.
“The town of Tipton calls him ‘Mr. Smiley,’” Tanner Langley, one of Peters’ longtime regular customers, told Good Morning America. “He’s a very kindhearted individual.”
As one of his regular customers, Tanner noticed that Robert’s car was in need of substantial repair, so he jumped in to keep the deliveryman on the road. Tanner spearheaded a crowdfunding effort in the community of 5,100 hungry people who chipped in to raise $19,000 for Robert.
That was more than enough to buy a nicer used car, but also lots of gas to ensure the pizzas keep rolling along.
“There were people in my family that were like, ‘Maybe you should consider something a little more financially stable,’” Robert told Steve Hartman during an ‘On the Road’ segment of the CBS Evening News. “But it’s my purpose in life—trying to make people happy. You know, when you’re delivering to somebody, you may be the only face they see all day.”
A smile is a pretty easy way to become an impact Christian.
