There is a huge difference between being selfish and selfless. God calls us to be selfless at all times by loving our neighbors like ourselves.

One Florida woman set the bar so high that it would seem impossible for her to do so without God’s intervening help.

Debby Strickland just married her boyfriend, Jim, after dating for more than 10 years. In doing so, she became a stepmother to two adult children, one of which who was pregnant with her first child.

Mylaen Merthe, the biological mother of the pregnant woman, had suffered from kidney disease for many years. But her condition suddenly deteriorated when Mylaen’s kidneys started functioning at just 8 percent of capacity. She needed a new kidney quickly or she would not live to see the birth of her grandchild.

Ironically, Debbie was a perfect match for a kidney donation. So, two days after marrying her new husband, she traded a wedding gown for a hospital gown and donated a kidney to his ex-wife, the Good News Network reported.

As a result, Mylaen gets to share in the joy of watching her new grandson grow up, and Debby doesn’t have to comfort a grief-stricken step-daughter during what should be a very joyous occasion.

It’s stories like this that prove anything is possible with God.
