This fun story is an example of ways people can be #ImpactChristians in ways that are personal and meaningful to them, and beneficial and meaningful to others.
These dedicated bakers have made 2,600 cakes last year alone.
What makes the story even more special is that the bakers don’t even get to see the joy on the faces of children as they are surprised with a cake. The members rely on pictures shared by others.
It reminds me of a group of Christians from a church in Phoenix that staged a birthday party every month at a shelter for victims of abuse. Everyone living at the shelter could attend the party, and kids celebrating a birthday that month received an individual birthday present.
The volunteers brought a cake for everyone to share. The kids played typical birthday party games and were spoiled silly as each received a gift bag of candy and trinkets.
Moms often received gift cards to help jump start their lives.
Like the bakers in this story, these #ImpactChristians brought joy and sunshine into the lives of children navigating a dark and depressing journey.

Frankfort native Ashley Boyd Gann decided about eight years ago that she was going to give back to the community in a sweet way.
Gann founded Sweet Blessings, a group of volunteer bakers who make birthday cakes weekly for children in Franklin, Woodford and Fayette counties, after taking baking classes and hearing a church sermon that encouraged ways to make the world a better place. Last year, volunteers made over 2,600 cakes.
“You know that you are bringing love and happiness to children who can use it,” Gann said. “Just making sure that they feel special and loved on their special day and knowing that’s what’s going on makes it all worthwhile.”
