Taking censorship to a new level

I don’t know where the idea came from that one group of people can impose restrictions on another simply because they don’t agree with what they’re talking about.
A few members of Congress have taken it upon themselves to write to at least 12 major content providers insisting that the cable companies and powerhouse tech firms stop carrying the likes of Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network.
While some people may agree with the move because they, too, disagree with the topics discussed and news presented on those sites, if this behavior is allowed to continue, there’s no end to what restrictions can be placed on dissemination of news.
We’ve already seen how quickly what is “acceptable” thought and speech can change. One year ago, it was still acceptable to express support for police officers. Aren’t we also told to “listen to doctors” or “listen to scientists?” What if the doctors and scientists disagree? Who decides what’s appropriate to disseminate?
If all media outlets in America will be forced to carry only approved content, then why would be need 40 different news channels? Wouldn’t one be enough? If we remove news from the left or right, how will people ever find the center?
Restricting approved communication only to state-run media outlets is the favored approach of dictatorships.
The speed with which the scourge of censorship is spreading across America is stunning, if not frightening.
